I am retiring this month as God has a different calling for me in this season as my parents have become increasingly dependent on me. I’m grateful that I am able to be there for them! Having started as a volunteer counselor at the Pregnancy & Family Care Center in 1989 and spending the last 22 years as director, I have been joyfully obedient to God’s calling on my life. My journey at the Pregnancy & Family Care Center has been incredibly rewarding, filled with memorable milestones and with the joy of helping families and giving a voice to the preborn. It is a great way to end my tenure with the defeat of Amendment 4! I will be forever grateful for God allowing me to serve in this capacity!
The new director, Hailey Burger, and assistant director, Gina Grimes, have been working alongside me since July to make sure of a smooth transition for our clients as well as our volunteers to ensure the continued success of this ministry. Hailey first came to the Women’s Care Center, another one of our Christian Care Center ministries, when she was struggling with addiction over ten years ago. Through God’s grace and the godly counsel of leaders at the Women’s Center, Hailey came to know the Lord and experienced healing from her past including abortion healing. She has a heart to serve the mamas who come through the doors of the Pregnancy Center and is able to counsel them from a place of experience and love. Her experience includes ten years of ministry and non-profit work. She and her husband, Justin, are thrilled that God led her back to the campus of the Christian Care Center to serve Him. Gina has over ten years of experience in the hospitality industry and was involved with high school ministry through Campus Crusade for Christ (Cru). Most recently she was a stay-at-home wife and mom to her three kids and served on the leadership team of a local women’s ministry. Hailey and Gina are a great team ready to serve the Lord and the families of our community!
I will still be available to those I’ve served in the past with an open heart and a listening ear as they all have my cell number. And I will continue to be involved in pro-life efforts through two statewide organizations. Just this week I heard from ‘Jospeh’, who I met in an AOL chat room in 2002, whose wife wanted to abort their baby. He had scheduled an abortion for her because of her insistence; but, after I shared information about abortion and sent him photos of developing babies, he refused to take her. Their son is now in college!
The Baby Bottle Boomerang is just around the corner, and I am hoping that our partnered churches will participate again this coming year. This is a way that we’ve been able to stay connected and for your church family to be a part of serving our community of families and those with crisis pregnancies. The proposed dates for the 2025 baby bottle distribution are January 19 to February 23. If we need to change these dates to work for you, please let Hailey know.
Again, thank you for caring about the ‘least of these’ and their moms and dads! I’m so thankful we serve an awesome God and that we get to minister together!”
“However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given to me-the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.” Acts 20:24
