James: A Transformed Life

Matthew 19:26 says, “But Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.

As a volunteer Teacher at the Men’s Center, one of the biggest blessings is watching the impossible happen before your eyes. Back in September of 2018, I can clearly remember James Moore as being one of those clients that seemed like would not break. He clicked with another client, and the two of them would disrupt class, say inappropriate things, and just would not take the program seriously. At one point, the two clients were separated in classes, but James still was not taking things seriously.

I often prayed for James because being a former client myself, it just seemed to be impossible for him to actually make the changes necessary in order to stay not only sober but to stay alive. God took those prayers and reminded me “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

James went through the motions and completed the program and service month. And God really got hold of him. I started teaching a senior class not too long after James transitioned into the senior program at the men’s center.

When I walked into class and saw him, I was blown away by the transformation! This was not a change a man can do on his own; this was the result of a real-life relationship with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

You see, I was blown away because not only was James still here but his heart had changed in such a dramatic way that it caused me to fall to my knees and praise God. James went from a selfish man to one who now has one of the biggest hearts I have ever encountered.

He now has such a positive influence on the men here. He will hire many guys and give them on site job training, he often sponsors men for their program fees, and now he even has taken over my class as the teacher, giving back all that he has learned in his time here.

James now is on staff here at the Men’s Center filling the role of a Residential Manager. God has changed this man’s life and to have witnessed this reminds me of how powerful our God really is. If you would like to find ways to connect to the Men’s Center and have a part in the amazing transformations God is performing, please call 352-787-9904 or email our Men’s Residence Director, Jay, at JayWalsh@Christiancarecenter.org.
