“Did God really say…?” (Genesis 3:1)
That’s the first question in the Bible. You see when we question God’s Word, we are really questioning His goodness, because if we can’t rely on God, we are left to rely on ourselves. That’s the situation that one of our residents, Steven, faced recently as he was ready to transition out of the Men's Residence.
He knew he wanted his child back in his custody, but how could he ever survive raising a family with no real skill or trade? He was faced with a choice, or so he thought—either go to school to learn a trade or not have his child. Through wise counsel, he chose to trust God and move into the Samaritan Inn with his son. Since then, we have been praying for God’s provision.
In Luke 11 Jesus said,
“If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”
Recently God orchestrated an opportunity for Steven not only to learn a trade, but to get paid to do so. And not just any trade, but the very same trade (H.V.A.C), that he wanted to go to school for. God has been good, not only to this family but to all of our families.
