Bread Therapy

Ladies at the Women’s Care Center reap the benefits of being immersed in God’s Word each and every day. They are able to work on getting healthy – spiritually, mentally and physically. They take part in about 32 hours of class time weekly. That includes Bible study, life skill classes, relapse prevention, exercise & nutrition, and even some jewelry making and craft classes.

Recently, Emily Hersom taught a Bible study with a special message for the ladies which was wonderful, and she also brought along Jenny Wright for a special presentation.  Jenny brought the starter, instructions, and all the ingredients to teach the ladies how to make sourdough bread!  The fellowship was amazing, and we have decided that we love “bread therapy”. There is something about the smell of freshly baked bread that makes everyone smile!

From what we understand, sourdough is the healthy choice for bread – so that makes this a favorite for all. For some, laughter and fun in the kitchen is not something they have been familiar with but that’s what makes this time special… building relationships, enjoying our community and growing in the grace and knowledge of Jesus.

If you would like to learn more about the Women’s Care Center or how you could partner with us either prayerfully or financially, contact our Director, Sherry Stewart at (352) 787-8929. We may even share the sourdough recipe!
